Director of Finance
The Director of Finance is responsible for the accounting functions of the organization, that is continually growing and maturing. A key success factor for this position is the ability to be self-directed, highly motivated and hands-on across a wide area of responsibilities. The Director is expected to take ownership of recurring accounting functions as well managing the donor database, and to drive process improvements within the finance department. Operations Manager
The Muslim Women’s Alliance is excited to announce we are hiring an Operations Manager. This is a full-time position with benefits. Compensation is commensurate with experience. The position’s primary responsibility is ensuring organizational effectiveness by providing administrative support to allow the organization to execute its vision and programming. Working with the board of directors, project managers and volunteers, the position also contributes to the development and implementation of organizational strategies, policies and practices. Ramadan Rush for Rewards 2019

This Ramadan, be a part of Muslim Women’s Alliance annual community service projects: Ramadan Rush for Rewards (RRR). Join hundreds of dedicated volunteers of all ages caring for people of all faiths and backgrounds.

EVENT 1 – FEED A FAMILY

Start off your Ramadan by supporting your Muslim neighbor in need. This Ramadan, Muslim Women’s Alliance volunteers will once again be packing food and supplies for 500 local Muslim families. Each family in need will receive a box with essential food staples, cooking supplies and grocery vouchers for the entire month of Ramadan. Please donate your time and financial support for this family. This program is certified to accept zakat-eligible and tax deductible donations.

EVENT 3 – COMFORT, CARE & COLLECT

Head into the last ten days of Ramadan with a community service activity for the whole family. On Saturday, May 18th, join Muslim Women’s Alliance volunteers to make blankets, assemble ChemoCare kits, pack meals for local food pantries and collect for Refugee Eid Gift Drive.

Our annual “Comfort, Care & Collect” service project is about gathering volunteers together to make and immense impact in the community on multiple levels. We are #StrongerTogether. Please donate generously.

Khadija Fund

The MWA 2017 Khadija Fund Details
The Khadija Fund is Muslim Women’s Alliance’s latest effort to empower women striving to become financially independent. MWA is committed to being a resource for financially-challenged Muslim women by filling in gaps where community and civic allocation is lacking. What is the next step for a woman who has left an abusive situation or a newly arrived refugee woman?

The main goal of the Khadija Fund is to remove hurdles, such as lack of training or equipment, for women in entering the workforce. Micro-grants from the Khadija Fund can be used, for example, to secure equipment needed to start up a business, certifications, coaching or other items and advanced education that will ensure the recipient’s ability to secure employment or launch a business to earn an income and gain financial independence.

The Khadija Fund is designed to get the necessary tools into the hands of women looking start earning and stand on their own two feet. Help us to spread the word about this opportunity and remember by supporting MWA, your generous donation will assist and aid the women who need it the most in your local community.

The amount awarded will differ based on demonstrated need and ability and will range from $250 to $2000

Applicants must fall into one of these categories:
1. Female, in possession of skill or talent that has been previously used to earn an income, currently in need of equipment or certification to re-enter the workforce.

2. Female, currently unemployed and in need of assistance in forms of resume building, technical skill acquisition, computer, and technology training with hopes of securing employment.

MWA Celebration 2018 Sponsorship

Take advantage of MWA’s sponsorship package that will gain your organization/business exposure to more than 2,000 women and men! You can also pick a package below to be included in the program that will be featured at each individual place setting at the MWA Celebration of the Muslim Woman event Sunday March 11th. Last year this was a SOLD OUT event with over 500 women and this year we expect even more. MWA Scholarship

The MWA 2019 Aisha (RA) Scholarship Details

The Muslim Women’s Alliance Scholarship is in honor of Aisha (RA), the greatest of women scholars. The purpose of this scholarship is to empower women and to allow them to become self-sufficient.

MWA is offering two separate scholarships, to two separate individuals, in the amount of $2,500.00 each (Two thousand five hundred dollars, only).

Applicants must fall into one of these categories:

  1. Female, High School graduate, entering into a two-year or four-year college
  2. Female, currently enrolled in a two-year or four-year college
  3. Female, entering into, or currently enrolled in a trade school.

Eligible Students:

  1. Muslim Female; must be at the age of 17 years or older, as of March 1, 2019.
  2. Must be a U.S. Citizen or a Permanent Resident of the United States, and a resident of Illinois.
  3. Must be pursuing an Associate’s degree, a first Bachelor’s degree, or pursuing technical or vocational training at an accredited school.

*Students who are graduating with a bachelor’s degree in 2019, and/or those who will be pursuing a graduate degree are ineligible.

  1. To be eligible to apply, the annual household income must not exceed the maximum for the household size.

These guidelines are based and formatted on information from the national average of the U.S. Department of Labor. To adjust for households larger than 6 people, add $7,500 for each additional member.

Requirements to apply: (Please provide proof and documentation for each)

  1. Accepted to, or currently enrolled in college
  2. GPA of at least 3.0, or a B average
    1. For College: Provide High School or College transcript
    2. For Technical/ Vocational Training: Entrance exam results, or letter of reference proving eligibility.
    3. Proof of household income
      1. For College: FAFSA Application
      2. For Technical/ Vocational Training:  A copy of the first 2 pages of tax returns; Form 1040 for 2017/2018, together with a copy of the 2018 W-2
      3. Demonstrate active participation in community service or philanthropic work (Not necessarily at an Islamic center)
      4. 5.       Provide two letters of recommendation. The letter can comment on your academic ability, a promise of future success, your extracurricular activities or how your efforts have contributed to the community. Be sure that the letter of recommendation includes contact information for the person writing the letter.
        1. One from volunteer/ community service
        2. One from school, internship or work
        3. Write an essay (Please see below for requirements)

Requirements for the essay:

  1. Topic: How do you think, the education you will receive empowers you to make an impact in society?
  • This can be in your home, at school, at work, or in the community. Also explain how you would embody the characteristics of a companion, or one of the wives of our Prophet Mohammed (SAW) to make such an impact.
  • Your essay will be judged on creativity, content, style, and grammar.
  1. Essay must be typed
  2. Length: 500 – 700 words maximum.
  3. Font: Times New Roman
  4. Size of Font: 12
  5. Line spacing: Double
  6. Margins: 1 inch all around
  7. Must have a cover page, with the name of the applicant and the title of the essay
  8. If any references are being made, the correct citations, in APA or MLA, and reference page.

  • Application deadline: February 16, 2019 (Postmarked, or electronic time stamp must be no later than midnight of due date)
  • Application selection: February 23, 2019
  • Awarded: Spring 2019 (At the MWA Annual Lunch event, exact date TBA)
